Proton launches new Proton X50 with leading GKUI 19 system

SUBANG JAYA, 27th October 2020: The Proton X50 is officially launched today in Malaysia much to everyone’s excitement at the Proton’s official Facebook page.

In ACO Tech, this is the first car model which is fully developed locally in Malaysia. By working hand in hand with Proton R&D, the 2nd generation of GKUI system namely GKUI 19 was successfully developed and tested. We have also conducted a series of training sessions for Proton’s appointment After-sales experts.

Prior to this launch of the X50, ACO Tech has participated fully by deploying some of our experts during the Proton’s X50 media preview in Proton Tanjung Malim Sports Complex, as well as during the city previews in Selangor, Penang, Johor and Kelantan.

The new Proton X50 is the first model of Proton car to be equipped with the GKUI19 and the E-Series chipset. This technology has been brought in and adapted to the local market by ACO Tech, a joint venture company between ECARX (an independent company invested by Geely) and PROTON as well as Altel Communications. The E01 chipset is a system-on-chip (SoC) which made specifically for intelligent connected vehicles and is capable to further enhance the user experiences by higher processing power.

The GKUI19 system available in Proton X50 will be the most advanced system in Malaysia. It has an improved User Interface and applications that will promote the use of “Hi Proton” as well as it’s improved and new applications such as New Navigation, a new applications developed by ACO Tech by partnering with map provider, HERE. The online song quality and library inclusive the User Interface has also been improved in this GKUI 19 via partnership with JOOX. Customers can also opt to use their mobile phone apps via screen mirroring functions through QD link which available in Android, IOS as well as Huawei Appstore.

Since the launch of Proton X70 back in December 2018, Proton has more than 70,000 registered GKUI users with more than 42,000 daily active users. The Monthly average data usage is about 540MB and we foresee the growth of usage once users get their hands on new GKUI 19 system.

Where will we go from here.
Moving forward, ACO Tech aims to lead the Connected Cars industry in Malaysia by introducing richer and unchartered cars application services and continue to improve the quality of solutions as well as pioneering intelligent and connectivity solutions.
